From his opera "Venus and Adonis", which draws on classical mythology, Hans Werner Henze has taken four movements already described there as "madrigals" and arranged them for a cappella performance. These can be performed by six soloists or by a chorus. A distinctive and demanding yet rewarding challenge for singers.
